Upcoming New York based composer Brian Mark is a multi-dimensional artist, with 
                           influences spanning from the contemporary and traditional realm to jazz, musical theatre,  
                           film scores, folk music, new age, electronic, and the stylistic pop genres of the decadent  
                           80’s.  His voice in composition has often been described as fresh, unique, and visual in 
                           today’s concept of modern music.                                                                        
                Brian holds a MM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, a BM from the Berklee College of Music, and BA in Psychology from Boston University.  He received an Advanced Graduate 
Certificate in Film Scoring from the University of Southern California, as well as a Certificate in Composition, Orchestration, and Harmony from the European-American Musical Alliance (EAMA) program at L’ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.  Brian has studied with David Conte, David Garner,
Howard Frazin, and James Russell Smith.  Additional festival and university studies with Samuel Adler, Robert Beaser, David Tscimpidis, and Michel Merlet.  While at USC he had worked with film composer David Raksin and Christopher Young.
                Brian has received multiple prizes from ASCAP, the BMI Henry Warren Film Scoring Award, the Ross McKee Foundation for the Musical Arts, the Florence Gould Michael Iovenko Memorial Fellowship Award, first prize from the 5th Bi-Annual San Francisco Conservatory Choral Competition, and the Berklee Achievement Scholarship.  He has attended the California Summer Music Festival and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and has had multiple performances of his piano works premiered at the San Francisco based New Keys Festival.
                His music has been performed across the US and abroad, and has worked with many notable performances and ensembles, such as the Esterhazy String Quartet, Juventas New Music Ensemble, the USC Symphony Orchestra, Konzertabed für Gesand und Instrumente, San Francisco New Music Ensemble, performers from Dither Quartet, Paramount Studios Union Session Players in Hollywood, California, and the 60x60 Vox Novus Pacific Rim Concert Festival in Bainbridge Island, Washington.  He has also written music for a documentary honoring Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi and other notable skaters in association with Emmy Award Director Adam Starr and the International Figure Skating Magazine.
                Aside from serving as an Artistic Director for the New York City DETOUR concert series which commenced in the Spring of 2009, Brian had just completed commissions for Cellist Diana Golden, Harpist Michelle Gott, and a piano trio for members of the Reno Philharmonic.  Upcoming projects include an orchestration for his solo piano composition Sliding Doors, and recently arranged Madonna’s Like a Virgin for the Huxley Vertical Cabaret Nouveau.
